Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan Speech at seminar for International Anti-Corruption Day Peshawar (06.12.18) #PTI #KPKUpdates #IACD Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that rampant corruption has put the country into the present quagmire, adding the KP Government’s resolve to get rid of this menace would certainly bear fruits in the days to come. He was addressing a seminar arranged by Anti Corruption Department at Nishtar Hall here Thursday. Provincial Minister Dr. Amjad Ali, Secretary Establishment Arshad Majid, Director General Anti Corruption Usman Zaman, DG NAB Farman Khan and other relevant officials also spoke on the occasion. The Chief Minister said the present government has launched a campaign against corruption which is the main cause of bankruptcy and devastation of countries. He said the present government initiated a transparent and corruption free governance and made legislation against corruption during its previous tenure in the province. Mahmood Khan said that PTI is the first ever government which made legislation making its own ministers accountable. The Anti Corruption Department was being strengthened because we could not compromise on transparency. He underlined the need for collective efforts to eliminate corruption, protect the poor which is also our religious obligations. We are aware as to why a transparent governance is necessary for a balanced society adding that corruption breeds multiple ills in the society and the end result leads to the total deprivation of the poor and hapless in the society. The Chief Minister KPK also spoke about the nexus of corrupt elements, adding that the corrupt make it to the power corridor and these exploitative forces bring along total devastation to the nation. We have to respond collectively in order to totally eliminate corruption. The previous tenure of PTI in the province spent considerable time on legislation against corruption practices, he added. He said more than 150 laws were framed and the first ever right to information law aimed at total openness in the governance. This was followed by Right to Services in order to bridge the gap between the rich and poor and secure the rights of the poor. His government not only offered itself for accountability but made the whistle blower law to ensure transparency in the system at all levels of governance. The legislation was followed by the rules of business and now his government was focusing on the strengthening of Anti Corruption Department putting it on modern lines to totally discourage corruption and corrupt practices. Chief Minister said that complaints cells have been established at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Office of the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police where the citizens could register their complaints and the competent authorities would respond effectively to give relief to the people, he expressed. Mahmood Khan said that we should not ignore the devilish designs of the law-breakers making inroads even to the stronger system and that was one of the reason we are taking time for a foolproof system where nobody could break it down. The system of accountability would not be influenced adding that the present mess visible everywhere in the society was because of the corruption, breeding societal degradation, weakening of institutions, violations of justice and merit. We have to fight against all those posing threat to the society and system of justice, he added. The Chief Minister called upon the people to launch a united struggle against the anti societal elements and all segments of the society should come to one point for upholding merit, transparency and justice. The institutions, he said should raise the awareness of the people against corruption. Each and every segments of the society should have a determined role that is our national obligation as we have to stop the oppressor from oppression, tyrants from tyranny and safeguarding the poor in the society, he concluded.
